Gwen and Don Reece spent 35 years as missionaries to Nigeria. It was during the Nigerian/Biafran war that Gwen had to leave with the children, but Don stayed to help in the medical clinic. He took meds to the Leprosy colony nearby and cleaned their sores. He dug a pit to fill with water to baptize those who, during that time, accepted Christ.
He took people away from their compound to save them from the army that was closing in on them The remaining missionaries prayed that he could escape without any problems. Their prayer was that rain would come and fill the gulley so the army couldn't get across.
sure enough the rains came in downpours and it stopped the army.
Prayers were the instrument of protection for them in many ways.
