Walk of Faith FAQs
Q: Can a group get together and purchase a brick?
A: Absolutely! Your group can go in together to purchase a brick. If multiple people are sending in checks for the same brick, please clearly label your check with the name that will appear on the brick in the memo field. You can give us a heads up to expect a group gift by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that the brick will not be ordered until all contributions are received.
Q: Can I honor someone whose name is already on a brick?
A: Yes! You may purchase a brick and put someone’s name on it, even if that person’s name already appears on a brick. We do allow multiple bricks with the same name, recognizing that you have a unique story for why you are honoring this person.
Q: Do you notify the person I’ve purchased a brick for?
A: We do! If you provide us with their contact information, we will send them an acknowledgment letter and flyer with an image of what their brick will look like (you will receive an acknowledgment letter and flyer, as well). Once we receive the actual brick (in approximately 8-10 weeks after the brick is ordered), we take a photo and send it to the person along with the story that you submit. We also send a photo of the brick to you.
If you want us to wait and notify the person on a specific date (like the person's birthday, for example), just let us know that on the form when you order the brick. Please remember that we cannot notify the person unless you provide us with their contact information.
Q: How long does it take before the brick is ready?
A: It takes 8-10 weeks from the time we order the brick. Please understand, though, that this timeline does not start once you purchase the brick but after the brick has been ordered. It may take a few days before we place the next order (the engravers require a certain number of bricks per order), so please be patient with us.
Quality is important to us because we recognize these bricks represent very important people. It may take slightly longer in some cases because we want to pay special attention to getting the details right. You may contact us at any point for an estimated date that the brick will be available.
Q: Can I visit the WMU building to see my brick?
A: Of course! We welcome you to visit, schedule a tour of the building, and see your brick. We expect the first bricks to be laid in the fall of 2018.
Q: Are there discounts available for purchasing bricks?
A: No, we do not offer discounts on this project. However, 100% of your brick purchase helps to meet the needs of WMU through the Wanda Lee Joy Fund. How? The WMU Foundation is purchasing the bricks out of its own budget, which allows your full Walk of Faith contribution to be used for the work of WMU. Contributions to the WMU Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
