We WERE fine in 2009

Perhaps you read my earlier column stating that We Will Be Fine In 2009; well, you deserve to know what happened.  As we approach the end of 2009, what happened?

Despite the news we read daily, and despite the realities of life (including bad economic news, dire predictions, cut backs, lay offs, budget decreases and hard financial times) we watched as Christians kept their eyes focused on the one certainty that supersedes all the financial news.

God is still God, and He is still in control of His Mission  --  and our lives.

Because of this, I am pleased to tell you some real outcomes:

WMU continued to challenge believers to be radically involved in the mission of God.

The WMU Foundation continued to receive generous and sacrificial gifts from thousands of our dedicated partners across the country.

God taught us how to do more with less; and to thrive while doing so.

As 2009 draws to a conclusion, we CAN look back and are amazed at what He has done and how HE did it!

Because God is who He says He is; and we are the sheep of His pasture; I can say with absolute confidence that despite the economic turmoil, despite the drops in the market and despite the predictions of doom and gloom  -- 
            We WERE fine in 2009!
