Foundation Funds Consultants
Meet our New Employee!
Dear WMU friends,
Hello! My name is Rianna Freeman. I joined the WMU Foundation on December 27th after moving from Mobile. I attended college at the University of Mobile graduating in 2002 with a BS in Communication and again in 2005 with an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy. I grew up at Barton Baptist Church in Lucedale, Mississippi where much of my family was involved in some way with WMU. Being raised with the knowledge of WMU still hasn't fully prepared me for the flood of information that I've been inundated with over the last month; and there's still so much to know!
As part of that, I look forward to getting to know, and working with, each of you. I'm honored to be a part of the incredible work you are already doing.
Blessings,
Rianna
What is a Funds Consultant?
A WMU Foundation funds consultant is a volunteer who promotes the WMU Foundation to people in his or her church, association, and community. A funds consultant tells others how they can financially support missions and ministries through the WMU Foundation. Funds consultants volunteer for a variety of reasons, but their common interest is supporting the future of missions.
Some functions performed by funds consultants:
- Explain the basics of WMU Foundation giving vehicles like state/national Touch Tomorrow Today endowments, WMU Vision Fund, and Second Century Fund.
- Serve as a link between the Foundation and donors in your area.
- Provide information about the Foundation to state, associational, and church leadership.
- Send information about potential donors to the WMU Foundation staff.
- Pray for God's direction of the WMU Foundation.
If you are interested in learning more about being a funds consultant or becoming one, contact Rianna Freeman at (205) 991-4927 or by email at rfreeman@wmu.org. The Foundation is happy to supply brochures, posters, and flyers at no charge to you.
Ideas for Funds Consultants
Don't know where to start? Are you suffering from "Fundraiser's Block?" Here are some quick ideas to help you in your fund gathering efforts!
- Host a small brunch or luncheon for donors in your area. The WMU Foundation will assist with names and invitations.
- Offer to speak at WMU church, associational, or state events. Request brochures and flyers from the Foundation to distribute.
- Mail a special letter to some of the regular donors in your state. Consider providing a thank-you gift, like a WorldCraftsSM item.
- Encourage your WMU group or Sunday School class to support the WMU Foundation.
- Work with the WMU Foundation to promote giving in your area. We can assist with ideas, planning, and special projects.
- Consider a day trip to national WMU in Birmingham, Alabama. A guided tour gives a clearer picture of how national WMU and the WMU Foundation support state WMUs.
